| by Joe Hennessy This would make a good movie World Society.net The Curate's Lady A novel by Joe Hennessy Ever imagined what life would be like if Rome decided finally to give us a married Clergy? Mr Hennessy did, and the results are hilarious! Set in Ireland, a local bishop decides that his diocese is going to be the first to follow the Pope's mandate that priests should marry. But to his dismay, there is no sudden rush to the jewellers by his clergy to buy wedding rings. So one poor hapless curate is elected to perform this duty. The whole matter is undertaken like any other order from the bishop, with the parish priest and the second curate being as helpful and as sympathetic as possible while the local ladies are eyed up. Reverend Mother hides her 'girls' from father's unwanted attentions, and the Bishop is like a father awaiting the birth of his firstborn! The trouble really begins when the bride's mother decides her son-in-law should have a better job, and keeps pestering the Bishop on this matter! But like all good yarns it ends well with an unusual twist. A must read for all clerics. It will put you off marriage forever! Everyone will love this gentle and humorous tale and I can thoroughly recommend it. The book is currently out of print and the author is planning to reprint, so we are taking pre-orders. Not exactly Harry Potter, but great entertainment none the less, and well worth the jacket price of $12.99 / £9 sterling. We can also accept Euros on request. | by stavros popodopolis dear nj, substitute "the angelus " short from irish film board to go alongside intermission, sets up audience feel good humour, is not derogatory in any shape or form, i'm sure rod stoneman would approve. better still promote and buy in some ifb shorts and put them on the dvd as 'gifts' to the purchasers... could set a new trend in buying up shorts that are likely never to see the light of day except for a select few at festivals... Such a waste of money and talent ! this may provide a new trend in shorts distribution and the acknowledgement of newcomer directors who choose not to get into or can't get into the lucrative pop video and advert markets. ps i'd like to meet you sometime, my grandfather old popodopolis himself may have known your parent ( s ). warmest regards , your colleague, stavros . pps let us know more about your novel in transit, sounds exciting... I too am writing one of sorts soon as i complete my current work in progress ! Comment on this... |
