Bette Davis Forum

| by Gary Bette Davis is my all-time favorite actress. Her greatness lies in her magnificent range and scope as an artist. She brought raw emotion to the screen with unparalled projection. In my opinion, there has never been anyone else before or since who could touch her performances. She is truly an original---an American icon and treasure!!! Although I miss her, I find some small measure of comfort that she has been immortalized on celluloid. Comment on this... | ||||

| by christian i agree with all of you as far as bette being the first pioneer of the screen to be not afraid of diversity.she clould be lovely and horrible both inside and out in her characters and yet to her fans she exuded just the right amount of mystery to make you want more and even if her characters were depraved or saintly she left you loving her.my favorie role of her was in Dark Victory and all its soft lighting and powerful performance of a more tranquil/soft and just the right amount of steele to want you to be Judy Traherene-not to mention seeing such a dashing George Brent and young Ronald Reagan, and a lovely and a lovely Geraldine Fitzgerald. As far as everlasting beauty I love her early warner days as a glam blonde and then later in her forties with dark waves and ever deeper set eyes like an enchanted doe as the margo Channing/ Tallulah Bankhead inspired vixen.Funny how actresses in this day and age and most female artists in general have fallen into that massed produced look-if anyone is anywhere near the unique allure of Beete it would be,in my opinion, either Jody Foster,Cate Blanchett, and Miranda Richardson. As far as atists go Stevie Nicks,Kate Bush, and Tori Amos.Well Im off the Bette soap box for now. Thanks for reading. | by Lisa I am looking for a photo of bette davis that I saw on a tribute on television by Meryl Streep. It was a poster from a movie i am sure where she has long blond hair, slumped in a corner as if she is drunk or on drugs...what movie is it from? reminds me of Cortney Love. Anyone know it or the movie? Comment on this... |

| by Jilly Talbot She was and will always be by movie heroine. Her films are an example to the so called 'modern' film actresses. She was not afraid to do anything. I have so many of her films on tape and also various books about her. I also have one picture but would love something really personal of hers, but alas I think I will never be able to achieve this. She was a real beauty when she was younger. Her acting talents were outstanding. I just love watching her films on TV over and over. A wonderful actress. Comment on this... | ||||
