Lauren Hutton

Lauren Hutton, a tenth generation South Carolinian, born in Charleston, grew up mainly in the Florida swamps where her interest in animals and wildlife began.

She dropped out of college to pursue a life of travel and discovered modeling in New York as a means to paying for it. Hutton appeared on a record 25 Vogue magazine covers and in countless editorial campaigns. In 1974, she negotiated the first exclusive talent contract in modeling history with Revlon. This created the first of the supermodels. For the next ten years, she divided her time between modeling exclusively for Revlon, worldwide traveling (particularly Africa), and acting, co-starring in such films as American Gigolo, with Richard Gere, Little Faus and Big Haisy, with Robert Redford, and Once Bitten, with Jim Carey, as well as French films with Gerard Depardieu, Isabel Adjani and Yves Montand.

In 1989 she stopped making movies to concentrate on modeling in order to create a much-needed image of mature women in the advertising media. The time was right and she's worked with Barney's, J. Crew, Federated Department Stores, Regatta and Revlon among many others. She's produced and/or appeared in several documentaries about tribal life and social issues and numerous public service TV announcements. She is spokesperson for the National Breast Cancer Coalition, and the New York Harbor Festival Foundation and the EPA. Ms. Hutton is committed to the Women's Campaign Fund, a bi-partisan organization which raises money for progressive women in their bids for public office. She is also on the board of National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Hutton most recently worked with Turner Original Productions on the series Lauren Hutton and..., coproduced wit h Hutton and Luca Babini's own LuLa Films. The nightly national talk show featured groundbreaking film making techniques, created by Babini. Lauren hosted 150 half-hour interviews with such diverse guests as: Gabrielle Byrne, Mario Cuomo, Al Sharpton, Anna Nicole Smith, Isabella Rosellini, Marcelle Marceau, Jewel, Robert Kennedy and Sean Puffy Combs.

Hutton produced a docu-drama for her production company entitled Little Warriors, the true story of her two godsons, who, prior to the younger boy's Brian surgery, traveled to meet and live with their Maasai counterparts on the Kenya-Tanzania border. Little Warriors aired last fall on TBS Superstation.

This fall she returned to acting with three independent film projects to be released later this year: Isn't it Romantic with Alison Eastwood (daughter of Clint ); Loser Love, by award winning director Jean Marc Vallee; and the Miramax production of 54. She is currently hosting a primetime series airing Sundays on the BRAVO Network entitled Expose, which investigates the business behind the arts in America. Ms. Hutton was in Hong Kong for the handover to China last July and spent the summer wreck diving in Micronesia. She's just returned from diving in Fiji and is an advanced master, certified in Nitrox and Rebreathers and is beginning to write her first book.
