Julie Bowen stars as the dream girl of former classmate-turned lawyer Ed Stevens on television's sophomore comedy series Ed, which was The People's Choice Award winner for best new comedy. Other feature films include Happy Gilmore, opposite Adam Sandler; Multiplicity, with Michael Keaton; and An American Werewolf in Paris. She performed with Lynn Redgrave in the independent romantic comedy Venus & Mars.

Bowen played Noah Wyle's girlfriend for nine episodes of ER, and made gues appearances on Party of Five and Strange Luck. She made her debut as a regular playing a paramedic opposite James Brolin in Extreme, followed by the action-adventure series Three.

Bowen was raised in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Brown University, where she earned a degree in Italian Renaissance studies.
