| by Chelsea "It's a great feeling to think that I can be a friend to so many people through my movies", said River who would receive around thirty-four thousand fan letters a week. We(yes, there are MANY people) might feel an overwhelming connection to him & be greatly touched by him but that's all it is..however much you disagree it is NOT love. You can only be in love with a person you really KNOW..not one of us knows river phoenix personally, we only know of the person through his work and the image portrayed as him. And incase you need told; River phoenix doesn't know you at all! Accept it. You cannot say that you would if you could 'help him avoid drugs' etc..he lived a troubled life & has been quoted saying that he didn't like having that superstar image, he was a real person too & wanted to be treated like one. He also stated that he tried to lie as much as possible in interviews, after all, who would know the difference? Nobody knows what he really felt and thought except the man himself. He lived his life the way he wanted to as best he could, he made his own decisions and one of them was drugs, for whatever reason, maybe it was to escape reality, maybe not..only he knew. To be honest i don't believe he would care less about what we think of him, we are just other people living our own lives, whether we let river phoenix influence our lives is irrelevant..he will never know, he would more than likely be glad to have helped make the world a 'better place' (different people have different visions of the perfect world). ..but after all he'll never know & the only people that did actually know him are the only ones that can comment on their love for him. Sorry, it seems sad to be doing this but i just wanted to express my opinions and show people that not everyone is as ignorant as some on here x Comment on this... | ||||
