Emily Procter portrayed White House staffer Ainsley Hayes in the series The West Wing. Her other television credits include guest-starring roles in Friends and Just Shoot Me.

Procter graduated with degrees in journalism and dance from East Carolina University. While in school, she worked as a weather anchor at WNCT Greenville, N.C. Soon after graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and landed roles in the feature films Leaving Las Vegas and Jerry Maguire. She also starred in the television film Breast Men.

Procter was born and raised in Raleigh, N.C., and lives in Los Angeles, where she supports charities that fight homelessness. Her birth date is Oct. 8.
