| by Bart Druery Dear Jerry I have been told that you & I both suffer from IPF. I imagine that you are aware of the drug ACTIMMUNE, sold by the company Intermune. It has been prescribed for me to start ASAP. In attempting to obtain this drug, I have found that no insurance covers it since it has not been FDA approved for IPF, even though it has been found effective against this disease. The drug, therefore is priced anywhere from $36000 to $60000 per year based on where it is obtained. This cost is prohibitive to me and others in the same circumstances. Would you have any clout to get the price reduced, or FDA approved so that Medicare could cover it ?? Hoping to hear from you & thanks in advance for anything that you can do. I watched you on the Larry King show and you said it was not the cartoons they watch but the general t.v. or the news. People for get how voilent the cartoons use to be like road runner, mighty mouse, tom and jerry and so forth. Kids are kids just like we use to be and all you can do is teach them right from wrong just like we were. I would like to thank you for all that you have done for m.s. and all that you have spooken out for.
