Vanessa, you are just brilliant. And enjoyed your interview on Larry King. Couldn't get enough of your poingnancy... Totally lovely. By the way, I immediately went out and rented "The Focher's"... Loved it.
I cannot seem to find on the internet the movie you were casted in approx. 1982. The title is vague to me, but the movie was set in a women's barrack's of a concentration camp. It could have been Treblinka???? And the women, who played instuments were not exterminated. They were made to form a symphony for the Ghestappo/Nazi officers.. to entertain. Tremendous acting/movie. Maybe you know of the movie's name??? Play it Again ????????????? Can't remember
My father played in the WWII Army Band in European Theater. My maiden name was Snyder. My brother and cousins have just found out that we are half Jewish. I am the baby, and the last of the baby boomers... haha.. DOB.. 1952. My great- grandfather was ostrasized out the family in Phila. for marrying a protestant girl... That was the way in the 1880's. My cousin and I often talk about the Holocaust, We feel like we have a connection, but can't figure it out. We have relatives with last name of Stern, Walbert, Stettler, Leichenwalner.

Your shame (Tue Sep 7, 2004 7:33pm ET)report post

Your comments in the Sunday Times (5 Sept 04) re. the Beslan outrage show how completely out of touch you are with anything outside your own little dream world. How dare you say that this atrocity could have been prevented by dialogue? It's all too easy to pass judgement from the comfort of your armchair in Hampstead or whichever upmarket borough in London you live.

You should desist from making comments on subjects you know nothing about, or at the very least condemn those who perpetrated these atrocities, as the rest of the civilised world has.

You have demonstrated to all just how sad you really are.

An idea inspired from viewing the documentary, "Searching for Debra Winger". (Sat Aug 23, 2003 4:01am ET)report post
by Jean Himebaugh
Dear Vanessa Redgrave,

I'm not sure if you really read these guestbook entries or not, but by chance you do, I would like to submit an idea for a movie.

I know this sounds corny or even naive - but I was watching HBO the other night and saw Rosanna's Documentary, "Searching for Debra Winger" and it inspired me to joint down this idea for a specific part for any middle-aged actress to play that would be interested.

In a nutshell - it could be a comedy, but I prefer it to be a drama in order to strike a "heart-felt" emotion to the audience and convey a message about how woman they are seen by others and by themselves.

I am sincerely interested in telling this idea to an actress or a director who would take this into consideration seriously. But if this forum doesn't get read by Vanessa Redgrave - I feel really stupid and silly for even taking the time to write this entry.

Please reply if this entry truly appeals to you, with honesty and sincerity.

Dear Jean,

I'm sure that great films start with a single idea just like yours. Women are (I think) the most facinating and inspiring subjects. Good luck to you...
