Gosford Park (Sat Jul 19, 2008 1:19pm ET)report post

Although "Gosford Park" is a film with many excellent actors, his performance still shone through – in more than one respect. As Ivor Novello, an actor and composer, he plays the piano and sings, in the stile of the 30s, and it is breathtaking. His voice is beautiful, his performance very intelligent, and it is most impressive, especially if one knows that what you hear on the dvd is how he sang live while they were filming those scenes – no dubbing there. And his acting in this film is absolutely credible, very intelligent, witty. An actor who shine in every role. I hope that now, after "Tudors", he will get more lead roles.

I just saw Jeremy in Martin & Lewis and was blown away with his portrayal of singer Dean Martin...he was wonderful and had the mannerisms and look down pat...the suits were an added bonus and he wore them so elegantly.

Our daughter, who works in Holywood, recommended us the movies of JH. We have enjoyed them very much, specially his role in Emma and Statement. No doubt England is having a Renascence on movie production.
We hope he continues to to play interesting roles like those.

I was so lucky to see him early in July, on stage in London at the Donmar, in this Pinter classic. I adore JN on film - he is really the best around: so versatile and appealing - and on stage he is sensational. The play is extremely challenging and JN, playing Deeley, is by no means the gorgeous Mr Knightley that many of us came to know first up Smile His emotional and psychological breakdown at the end is the most shattering performance I've seen on stage in years. I can't speak too highly of this man. His talent is phenomenal and his work ethic, impeccable. He's the real deal, not a 'stah', even less a 'sleb'. Mr Northam is a working actor and is totally, totally magnificent. I want him to be better appreciated and more widely known [but not if it means that I have to share him with the grubbier sort of hoi polloi or paparazzi Big smile] Yes, by all means, let him have the lead in a good romcom, or in an action movie. He can do both brilliantly and deserves the acclaim it would win him.

Emma (Fri Jul 18, 2003 5:44pm ET)report post

I love Jeremy Northam's movie. Saw Emma last night. I must have seen this movie a hundred times because of him. Hope to see him in more movies. He proves he could be funny in Happy Texas., and melodramatic in the period movies . My favorite of course is "The Winslow Boy". But it seems he is not the favorite of many young people like me. I love the way he talks, express himself in that most baritone voice of his. Maybe someone will give him a break to star in a romatic-comedy, comedy-drama genre of movies. Thanks for giving me this opportunity to praise him.
