Jeremy recently starred as Ivor Novello in Robert Altman's critically acclaimed ensemble, Gosford Park, with Kristin Scott Thomas, Emily Watson, Maggie Smith, Clive Owen, Ryan Phillipe and Helen Mirren. Northam's performance in The Winslow Boy earned him the 1999 Pathe British Performance Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and he was nominated for the Best Actor Elle Award. He was also nominated for 1999 British Actor of the Year Award which recognized his collective work for the season. Furthermore, Northam was a recipient of the prestigious Olivier Award - the British equivalent of the Tony - for outstanding newcomer, for his 1990 performance as Edward Voysey, the moral pivot of the Royal National Theatre revival of the 1905 play, The Voysey Inheritance.
On stage, Northam received wide recognition for his title-role performance in Hamlet at the Olivier Theater. He starred in the Royal National Theater's production of The School for Scandal and in William Wycherley's Country Wife at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he also appeared in Love's Labour's Lost and The Gift of the Gorgon, and in Three Sisters and The Way of the World in the West End. Northam most recently appeared at the West End's Almeida in the acclaimed Certain Young Men.
