WE Need the Love Of God (Fri Apr 4, 2003 6:20am ET)report post
by Marlene Lunsman
I do not believe that our Higher Power....by whatever name you call Him...The Creator...the Highest Power in the Universe...The Great Spirit...Maybe you Call Him Allah... maybe you call Him another name......but He does not endorse war that kills children....The faction of Muslims that are callling for a "Holy War" against the U.S. were calling for this war and have been calling for it for a long time now....I hate the fact that we are at war...for whatever reason....and that children are being killed....children of God, no matter what age....All the name callling, finger pointing...judging and projected hatred in the world are not fruits of the loving spirit of God... they spring from another source....dark and evil....We need to forgive one another...and pray for our president ...we may not like him...or his policys but if he is going to hold this office...he needs our prayers....we need to pray for our enemies...and pray for love and understanding in this war weary old world...I believe in our country...under God...I believe you have the right to your opinion....I believe that God knows our hearts....and He alone is the One who does......I pity Saddam when he meets his maker....and is asked what can you do with your life that you can show me.....the terrorists who kill innocent people in the name of God will have to answer to that same God.....Sincerely, Marlene Lunsman

I stand amazed at how you talk about the love of God and, obviously, you know little about Him and His love. The apple of His eye is the people of Israel, the Jewish people. This entire war ultimately is about the weapons of mass destruction that Saddam has and would eventually be used against Israel and all people who are their allies (USA and England).

Saddam does not care who he kills, men, women, children...even his own people. He has been financing Osama Bin Laden, Arrafat, and other well known terrorist leaders. You keep talking about the Iraqi children...who, by the way, have been being murdered, along with their families, by Saddam and his death squads for a long time. What about all the innocent children, women, and elderly in Israel who are murdered almost daily by the suicide bombers while they go about their daily lives? There are far more of them than the ones in Baghdad who have been accidentally injured or killed by Coalition Forces.

Do these people not have the right to go about their lives without the constant fear of being killed just because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time? You don't seem to have the compassion of God toward them? Or do they not deserve this because they are Jews? Remember, they are the Apple of God's eye.

Iraq and Iran are the old Babylon in the Old Testament. If you read Jeremiah Chapters 50 and 51, you will see the history and fate of Babylon...if you are not listening to the interpreters of Bible prophesy, you are missing it. Not Martin Sheen, Barbra Streisand, or any other anti-war demonstrator can stop the mandates of God.

God is a loving God, and he is not Allah, the great spirit, or any other God...He is the only living God, Jehovah, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Allah is from the lineage of Ishmael, not Isaac, the inheritor of the blessing.

As for President Bush...he was born for such a time as this. He does need our prayers for strength and courage as he stands practically aloneHe is in the office he is in because he was the one who would stand fast and do the job he is doing at God's bidding. He is ridding the world of probably the most evil person in this world today. The other candidate would not have had what it takes to stand up to the world. Regardless of your opinion, he is a Christian and prays for guidance daily and hates that innocent people are being killed in the process. He gave Saddam every opportunity to leave and he refused because he really does not care about Iraq, just power and evil. War is an ugly thing, but, God did mandate war in the Bible to rid the earth of evil. There are always innocent casualties...it's horrible, but unavoidable. But, alot of the casualties were at the hands of Saddam and made to look like we did it...he's a liar and evil and cannot be trusted.

You just said the same thing I said.. I believe , and knowing that you are a person who believes in God and are praying for the president is reassuring to me..... I still maintain that we should also pray for our enemies....it is written that when we pray for our enemies...hot coals shall be heaped on their heads....Saddam will answer to God for his crimes....my prayers are that God's will be done....and it will Sincerely, Marlene

There are 800,000 born again Christians in Iraq. The tide is now going to turn as these people are able to speak the gospel and the Iraqis will have the "freedom" to listen. This is the opening God has needed in the muslim world and His will be done. Our Lord cannot come until every living person on the earth has heard the gospel and has had the opportunity to accept Him. This is a critical time in the second coming of Christ and the war protestors such as Martin Sheen haven't even got a clue to what is going on. War is ugly, but, at times, necessary.

What a Screw up (Sun Mar 30, 2003 11:40pm ET)report post
by Robert Poudrier
Hey Ramon(aka Martin Sheen)I wish you guys and girls in Make Believe Land would get your ACTS together.Every time the Democrats tell you to go out and do their bidding you people run out into the street like pack of rabid dogs. You're not against the war or you would have spoken out against the previous criminals attacks against Iraq and Kosovo. You knew he was just trying to save his skin from being found guilty of committing PERJURY and needed a diversion. Not one of you made a peep, not even that mad dog Alec Baldwin or the Schnozz(Streisand)who believes having a high school diploma gives her the right to make national policy.(LOL).Like or not George Bush won every recount and was not appointed president as you like insist. If you want to talk about voting discrepancies tell them about the Democrats paying the homeless in Milwaukee to go to the polls and vote Democrat and the students at Marquette being given extra ballots and told to vote Dem.Or maybe how that new arm of the Dem party, the NAACP going around the South and buyin Dem.votes for $3 apiece. When you clear all this up come back and we'll talk.

This is a free country. Mr Sheen has a right to his opinion. The rest of the great unwashed also have a right to an opinion and perhaps a comment.

We have this right because of brave people throughout history who have fought to oppose opression.

Mr Sheen stands against brave Americans who give their lives for the freedom of the Iraqi people. They fight to keep foreign hostiles from American soil.

He stands with a barbiarian who has killed thousands of his own people and opressed a generation of his countrymen.

In seeking a superior position, a moral highground, a position better than the average Joe, Mr. Sheen has found a place in humanities sewer.

don't be a bystander (Fri Mar 28, 2003 4:21pm ET)report post

I utterly commend and support Martin Sheen and his speaking out against the war. All of you who say that we should support our sountry no matter what they do are no better than Saddam's military who support his unjust killings. OUR FREEDOMS ARE NOT AT STAKE IN THIS WAR. The soldiers, who are very courageous and we are lucky to have them willing to die for this country, are not defending our freedoms! Free speech in this country is threatened by all of you who write in saying that Martin should support the US at all costs. The Bush administration and the Patriot Act are taking away more rights of the American citizens than Saddam ever threatened to take (which is none). This war is not connected to September 11, there is no connection between the two! The weapons that we are claiming Iraq has would, if they exist, be bought from us. In the Iraq-Iran war of the 1980s, the US supported the use of chemical weapons by Iraq against the Iranian people (from 1983 to 1988 13,000 chemical bombs were dropped on Iran WITH US HELP AND SUPPORT. It is important that all of those who claim we should value our freedoms in this country question the lies the media is feeding the public. You can disagree with my views, but check out in depth what ids going on in the world from other lips than those of our president. Oppose the patriot act which is only the first step of many to come that takes away the same rights you say we are abusing. Inform yourself on the measures that have been taken by the Bush regime to supress any media reporters stationed in Iraq, all reporters wishing to be stationed in this area must sign "Ground Rules" agreeing that the US defense department has the right to FILTER AND CUT all material that is then broadcasted or sent to the American population. Does this sound like a free exchange of information to you? Where are the rights that these soldiers are supposedly preserving for me, because they seem to have disappeared the minute the country started this war to preserve them. Supporting our country no matter what and rallying around the president with no knowledge or concern for the true facts of the present situation encourages the violation of le liberties I am supposed to be enjoying because of this war.
Unite through knowledge. We do not wish the death of anyone, including those of our troops. Thank you Martin for fighting to preserve my rights and freedom!

Martin Sheen Auction (Wed Apr 9, 2003 6:02pm ET)report post
by Renee
I don't understand what the problem is with people having their own opinions. Martin Sheen agrees with a whole bunch of Americans, trust me, I'm one of them. It's nice to see that some rich people can step out of their little worlds and think about others for once. The rest of the rich folks don't have to worry about the stuff that us normal people do. The rich support war because it doesn't effect them, because they're afraid to speak out, because it might hurt their reputation! Well screw that, Sheen is brave and caring, and he doesn't like thousans of innocent people being killed. Hey, what an idea!
So, for all of you loyal Sheen fans out there who are still watching West Wing, I just wanted to let you know about an auction going on at www.entertainmentrarities.com for a shirt and tie that he wore in an episode! there have got to be some compassionate fans with money out there who would love to have some cool Sheen memorabilia. Plus, for those that care, the bid money goes to help a non-profit that does AIDS work in Africa. Good luck!

I'm Ashamed of You (Thu Mar 27, 2003 9:32pm ET)report post
by Lee Anne Farrington
Martin Sheen, I'm so ashamed of you and 95% of Hollywood. The comment that was made today at the prayer vigil you held, was so insulting towards our troops, our President and the american people. For those of you who do not know about this comment here it is ("By some demented form of logic the men, women and children of Iraq are relegated to 'collateral damage' as the dogs of war slouch toward Baghdad." ) Those troops which you call "dogs of war" are over there fighting for the very things we believe in and our freedom. The right to freedom of speech is one of the things those "Dogs" are fighting for. The comments you make are so hurtful to the american people, our troops, military dependents and our children, do you not think before you speak. Our President and military are trying their very best to not harm innocent Iraqi civilians and give freedom to the innocent Iraqi civilians who are wanting our help. Noone likes war Martin, but as a military spouse, whose husband is serving in the US Navy to protect the likes of you am deeply sadden and disgusted by the comments you make. I nor any of my friends will ever watch a show you are attached to in any way, wether it be acting, directing, producing ect. To think that my husband is serving this nation and my father served this nation to protect people like you is very hurtful. You have done great damage to the hearts of many americans.

Support your troops (Thu Mar 27, 2003 1:09pm ET)report post
by Lawson, David
I would you to know Mr. Martin Sheen that my
child and my nephews are defending you right to speak out about you beliefs. I feel that everyone had the right to say what they have on their minds, but first they have to understand what they say. I can tell you from
a former servicemen that I did not have to fight
during the time I served. I can tell you that my
father and father-in-law did and they tell me that the most thing that upset them the most
was the anti- war protest. I was told that at the time they were fighting the only thing on their mind was keeping from getting killed and keep their buddy beside them from
getting killed. I guess you can see that they
fought to live at the time and the rest of us
benifit from their willingness to stand the wall.
I ask you what you protest. I can tell you if
the problem is the American soldier my child
wants you to know, please do not. " I choose
to serve no one made me and I do that with
pride and if I have to pay the price then I hope
that the people of the U.S. will remember when they lay down in their warm bed to
sleep in peace". I was told also by my child that if "I do not come home please go on knowing that I stood for what you taught me
and do not run from the fight and gave it my
all for my country". I 'll close with that Mr. Sheen the people who have fought and are
fighting say everything that needs to be said
and they truly understand . see you and myself
can not we have not stood that wall, we just
get to continue to be free and say what we
want, when we want. I quess you understand
that part well enough. Good day..............

Unbelievable (Wed Mar 26, 2003 8:23pm ET)report post
by TC
I am very dissapointed in the position Mr. Sheen has taken. A dictator that murders his own people through starving, and torture is not the type of person that anyone should be protesting to keep in power. What ever your feelings about war, we have learned the lesson of non-action (Sept 11th). I have seen alot of demonstrations against war but no real alternative to take care of this problem that has not been able to be solved diplomatically in over 12 years. If Mr. Sheen is so unhappy with the US policies and leadership, please be our guest to move to Iraq. It is interesting for someone who doesn't even stay true to his given name, to throw stones at the integrity of another. The president stays true to his plans even in the face difficult situations, because he is not fake, and not an actor, but he is a leader and our commader and chief.

Mr Sheen you are entitled to your opinion, but the public is entitled to denounce your opinion and refuse to support your career in the future.

disappointed: (Mon Mar 24, 2003 3:35pm ET)report post
by Lulu
well im totally disappointed since martin sheen made his speech against our president and America. The west wing use to be one of our favorite shows and martin one of our favorite actors, but after his tv statement about the war it changed everything. My friends, and family and of course my relatives have decided not to watch west wing again until they put another actor in as president. One that has respect for our president and country. we are not for war either, but we still have respect for what has to be done, and our president. There are alot of actors and singers that we just don't want anything to do with anymore after there comments about our country and president. It's ashame because most of them were good at what they did. Were just totally disappointed in them all. They need to go to iraq and live as civilians and be treated like they are and then say sadam is okay. God forbid. May god be with these stars and singers. They need him.
