A am calling this message "Amazement III" because I have already posted messages called "Amazement" and "Amazement II." However, I do not remember who I sumbitted these messages regarding. In any case, the thing that amazes me now is that it has been over "three years" since anyone has posted a messages about this fine actor! In any case, I would just like to say to whoever reads this note that I turned 38 on the same day that Rob turned 60. Happy birthday Rob!

Rob,

HSeverywhere may change the world for every preschooler. But it may take someone with your combination of view and passion to make it happen. Call us.

Perhaps you will be interested in joining with us in some way to help cause the ultimate launch of HSeverywhere, a phenomenon that is as applicable to toddlers as it is to 12th graders—and that is applicable to all kids, regardless of socioeconomics, parental education, etc.

The press release, below, may be of interest.

Best regards,

Bud Baker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Vernon A. Baker, Jr. (804) 779-3611

FROM TODDLERS TO 12TH GRADERS, model could revolutionize learning

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

“If you listen to the urgency expressed by parents,” says Bud Baker, “you hear the need to hike the performance capacity of the nation’s young people.” National testing has validated that concern for years, but with education results booming in such countries as India and China, there must be an across-the-board stepped-up interest in learning by U.S. students—from high school seniors on down to elementary schoolers.”

The solution may come from HSeverywhere, a Richmond, Virginia-area company formed by Baker to develop an Internet-based educational and entertainment model. Originally visualized as an effort that would be operated by volunteers, HSeverywhere’s Web application quickly proved far too complex and expensive for volunteers alone. Nonetheless, adding early momentum and key to a national mass market approach, “One of the top 10 Internet service providers in the U.S.,” says volunteer Charlene Carter, ”made an intriguing proposal to be the model’s Internet service provider host.” The reason for the ISP’s interest? Numbers. HSeverywhere would instantaneously scale to potentially tens upon tens of millions of students, preschoolers and toddlers every day. Integral to the model’s methodology would be fun and one-on-one focus for every young person across the full socioeconomic spectrum, Title I students sometimes leading the way.

“The application’s mission includes inspiring young people,” Carter says, “to develop a personal interest in learning, to find day-to-day excitement and fulfillment in the process.” Baker adds, “The model will lead students to take increasingly more challenging courses and ultimately score much higher on such iconic tests as the nation’s report card, and help reduce the number of students—roughly 3000 a day—who drop out of high school.”

Members of the committee have been meeting regularly with community leaders, urging support to expedite a public-private partnership to launch the powerful application.

Todd Wessendorf, an information engineer working for a company that contracts to the US Navy, says, “The model may prove to be the nation’s strongest weapon against digital divide, causing the nation’s [computer and Internet] have-nots to cry out for equal access. I think the model could both revolutionize education and help end the educational divide.” Other than having a computer and Internet access,” Baker says, “there would be no cost for students, families or schools to use the ‘franchise’-like HSeverywhere model.” Baker adds that income to make the model self-sustaining “could come from partnerships with the commercial sector, the public sector or both: A General Motors partner, for instance, might achieve the impossible, an increase in margins and market share, something the giant, in 2002 alone spending a mind boggling $3.5 billion in marketing, has failed to do for over a decade. Or, the model might double or triple the number of qualified applicants a military branch gets.”

“In concert with the message of Minneapolis Federal Reserve Economist Rob Grunewald, as reported in a recent issue of the Richmond Times-Dispatch,” says Wessendorf, “the model, from Day One, would spearhead a ‘diverse system’ of public and private early-childhood programs, precisely the type of public-private effort sought by the Virginia Department of Social Services and its commissioner, Maurice Jones.”

“To help get the model launched,” says volunteer Theresa Massenburg, whose daughter is an assistant high school principal, ”we encourage parents to join with us.” As part of an ongoing effort to encourage input from the public, HSeverywhere plans to announce a December reception for volunteers and guests.”

Rob Reiner is from Mars (Sat May 22, 2004 6:02pm ET)report post
by Bill Swisher
I am not sure what Planet Reiner is from but he isnt from Earth. Lets see, the Liberals and worse the Ultra Left Marxists like Dean and Reiner and Michael Moore have been on the wrong side of History every single time.

I just listened to a diatribe from Reiner and Zsa Zsa Huffington who both seem to think they are experts on policy and politics. Reiner talked about the JFKism of Kerry who will be the one to make a Moon Program out of Energy alternative plans. Of course, he didnt mention that do nothing Clinton did NOTHING in that regard and that Kerry in 19 years of the Senate NEVER EVER introduced or pushed any such plan or the motivation to do so.

Lets see, I am going to get a job like Kerry and do nothing for 19 years and then convince people that I need a promotion. NOT. Of course I am not happy with the McCains and others in the Senate who dont "work' but have all the time to write books. Look Kerry is the most unqualified person since "Tank Commander" Dukasis.

I laughed at Reiners explaination as why is Kerry not gaining ground on Bush with all the bad news. Reiner said, "we'll Bush has spent alot of advertising !!!!!!!!!!!" HAHAHAHAHAHA. Reiner, people dont want Kerry just like the poeple didnt want your last pal Dean.. He didnt tell the truth either, and Kerry can not explain his 19 years of Nothing. All of a sudden he has the answers. And people will not vote for a guy who came back to the US and trashed the Soldiers and gave aid to the Viet Cong to fight on and killing more Americans. YEs, Kerry has committed WAR crimes but they were against the Soldiers he left behind. Just ask the ex- Vietnam generals.......... they loved the Anti war movement and called it their second front thanks to Kerry. Yes, Reiner people have figured out that Kerry is just a 60-70s hippie all grown up. And like the likes of Hillary and Teddy and Kerry, they havent figured out that Americans hate them.

I hate to break it to Reiner but Kerry will not only lose in an Electorial landslide and not even get 8 States, the Senate will gain 3 seats minimum. Just to have the Reiners relegated to Hate Bush rallys and sound bits on CNN will do just find.

I don't know why so many Charlotton hypocrites love Bush so much. It's says a lot about people who defend a man, who without denial, dodged the draft and had daddy hook him up for a slumber party with the National Guard. He must not have done much there because nobody can rememeber serving with him. He can't even provide one man who served with him his last year. It's disgusting that John Kerry is being attacked by these dirty, lying thugs who claim to be Vets, while Bush was snorting it up somewhere other than Alabamma! If John Kerry even got injurred by a paper cut in Vietnam, it's a no-brainer to point out that, at least he was THERE!!! If you don't like Kerry, thats OK. Just quit acting like Bush is Lincoln or Reagan.

Stay Out of Politics... (Thu Apr 8, 2004 10:03pm ET)report post

Hollywood needs to do what it does...make
movies. It should not be a forum for a
political agenda. What Hollywood is doing with
shows like "West Wing", "Goldie" and "Law
and Order" is down-right wrong. You are
using shows like this to push your agenda.

You are fat, disgusting and everything that
is wrong with America today.

Dear Rob.
Hollywood has never made any decent movies with political messages. There is Casablanca, but that is an exception. Of course, there is also Dr. Strangelove, but two exceptions prove the rule. No, wait, I mean three exceptions because you have to count In the Heat of the Night... and Spartacas... and Blackboard Jungle... and The Best Years of Our Lives... and Grapes Of Wrath... and Seven Days in May... and Dr. Zhivago... and Flower Drum Song... and All the President's Men...
OK, so I was wrong on that one. I still wonder why Rob thinks he has the right to express his political opinion in America? I mean its not like the constitution protects our right to speak out. No...wait... there is that 1st Amendment thing, but I always thought that was a misprint. I think they meant to say "Congress SHALL make ANY laws restricting freedom of the press...etc" Song member of the Liberal Elite probably snuck into the printing room and changed it.
And so I hope that all of you readers have now come to realize the wisdom of the those of us who see Rob for what he is... a LIBERAL, yes, a LIBERAL. And what could be worse than that? Well, maybe a Nazi... or a Racist... or maybe...

Good, except for. . . . (Sat Jul 5, 2003 8:34pm ET)report post
by Peter
I found this forum while looking for an address of some sort for Rob Reiner. There doesn't seem to be a way to get our opinion to film directors. The voice they hear is the cash registers at the box office, so if we see a movie at the theater, it doesn't matter whether we hated it, liked it, or liked it except for . . . , we donated to their cause.

I was really excited when I first saw the previews for Alex & Emma, thinking this would be a great movie to watch with my girlfriend (we are both very sensitive to and opposed to foul language and sexuality in movies). But then the rating came out as PG-13 because, like almost all movies, but romantic comedies in particular, they "had" to thrown in sex and profanities. Can't Hollywood make more wholesome movies that we can enjoy as families? I'm not saying there aren't any--there are lots of good films out there--I just wish that more of the movies that are good except for. . .(usually brief scenes that have nothing to do with the plot) could simply be made without that offensive scene.

And then there are those companies out there which are being hounded by the film industry for editing out those scenes for those of us who would like to watch the rest of the movie. They are doing what the producers should have done in the first place.

This is an excellent movie. Very well directed and written. I only had one thing about the movie I would change. Instead of having Emma and Alex partly clothed, after their kiss and "sleeping in bed" scene. I think it would of been wonderful to see in the next scene : both of them still clothed, just woken up, and Emma laying in Alex's arms while typing. I think that would of been very romantic. Smile

I watched TV Land's awards presentation the other night and have to agree with what seems like a great deal of Rob Reiner's ex-fans. He was totally out of line the other night by taking advantage of all the folks who pay for cable air time and spewing his political remarks, hence, greatly disgracing himself. We pay to be entertained. A few folks have come forward on the TV Land message boards, stating that he was trying to get into character and showing what Michael and Archie would have been arguing about today, but that is such total crap. Reiner...please hear this..we could give a care what your political viewpoints are. I have turned you off..for good. I'll be looking to see who is behind future movies...if your name is on the bill, I won't be renting them anymore. I hope others do the same. The only way to shut you up is to quit putting money in your pocket, which is the only thing you seem to care about. You didn't even thank anyone or mention Carroll. I don't care how good of a director you are, you need to stop your elitist attitude, roll up your shirt sleeves, and come way down to our standards...which I'm sure you think is the bottom of the barrel. But, it's pretty good down here. At least we have a sense of patriotism and love for our country. I know my son does. He is fighting for YOUR rights, freedoms, and dignity, as well as those Iraqi folks who deserve the same treatment. GO AWAY ROB REINER...WE REALLY DON'T NEED YOU OR YOUR BIG MOUTH.

My name is Pam Piper and I'm proud to be an American.

Frankly, my dear, I consider myself a proud American, too, and I admire Rob Reiner. No, I applaud him. He goes out and gets done those things in which he believes. You, on the other hand, sit on your couch and rant at Rob appearing on your cable TV. Do you really expect to be taken seriously?

TV Land awards (Fri Mar 14, 2003 5:26pm ET)report post
by amarice
this is nothing new as i have never been a big fan of Rob Reiner. i was so saddened by his display the night of the awards. he used a time that most probably felt was a fun, nostalgic, good time, feel good block of "let's leave the world behind and just enjoy ourselves"... and turned it into a platform to spout his anti-war OPINION. An award for a classic show in honor of the producers and mostly Carroll O'Conner and Jean Stapelton, was, I felt, made less important by Mr. Reiner's need to let everyone know his ideas, and no one really wanted to know, and ruin this time for many. I turned the show off immediatly after this.
anyone else have an opinion?

I've been stewing over this since the other night. I guess knowing my son could die fighting for Reiner's rights just put me over the edge.

Thanks for taking the time to voice your opinion.
