| by e.l. diaz Fatty Arbuckle was an incredibly talented man. The "Cook" comedy with Buster Keaton is downright spectacular with the stunts they both do in the kitchen. Fatty was so funny in a droll sort of way, and had such perfect timing. He and Keaton, together, are a marvelous team. He juggles huge butcher knives and several other items so well, that we had to play the scene again several times, in slow motion, to catch just what he was doing. Keaton does some amazing flips, flops and falls also. Hard to believe these men and their talents are gone and faded from memory. We need more genuine comedy like theirs: pure, simple and highly creative without being offensive to anyone. That's the real test of a comedian. Anyone can be sarcastic & crude and silly, but these men took comedy to a high level of art. You will love these movies if you like silent comedies at all! Comment on this... |
