| by kevelme I followed Lou's music into and out of my own addictions; opiates, benzos, alcohol not in-sympatico, but I attribute “Heroin” and other of his tunes to giving my young (16 years old) mind a desire, if not permission, to try heroin. I don’t blame Lou. Partially, I blame the people who were already involved in the drug, who knowingly “recruited” me, and (of course taking responsibility) me; “me” as in a young, impressionable, shy loner, inexperienced and already lost and looking for anything, anyone. 40 years, 12 of that in jails, prisons, institutions, programs and substituting, alcohol for opiates and back again. My wife died of an overdose in 1986, after giving birth to a child fathered by someone she prostituted herself to for drugs. I missed AIDS, I was jailed when it crept into our small Massachusetts city; everyone I ran with has succumbed and are now gone. I did not escape completely; I am on SSDI; due to physical and other ailments. I do not use now! “Mr. Lunchbox”, the working people I some times victimized, who went to work everyday, all of his life, raised a family, now has a home and grand kids. He has a legacy, he is loved, he has contributed. I only took! live in a small room, and have no one. I’m cleaning toilets and other menial tasks for my keep; still, I have a sense of being exactly where I am supposed to be. I live, with no long sad tale to tell. Regrets, and remorse, guilt? Yes on the first two though, I don’t dwell upon them, I remember. No, I have no feelings of guilt, I paid for every thing I’ve ever done; over, and over again! There is no cure: Finding out who you really are, and to “possibly” live long enough to figure some of that out and “mature out” of the life style. Peace, Love and all the best. kevel Comment on this... |

| by Ben Moss In the lyrics of "Good Evening Mr. Waldheim" from the fabulous (the best?) album New York, Lou says "does that include the PLO?". Is he here stating a Judeo/Nazi attitude, I.E; that common ground CANNOT include those who have been decimated by American/Israeli interests, OR is he asking whether the beseeched (Jesse Jackson in this instance) MUST INCLUDE those whose homeland has been invaded and occupied by the Nazi westerners? | by Ben Moss I question (sincerely, I have to know), the lyrics of "Good Evening Mr. Waldheim" on the New York album. Lou says " ..does that include the PLO.." Is he saying that the PLO should not be taken into account at all, or, as I hope, that he is saying (to Jesse Jackson in this case), that one MUST also include the Palestinians in the reckoning? I sincerely hope that one of my icons for thirty years is desperately stating that we have to include the people who have been systematically destroyed by the Israeli/American interest. And I am Jewish!! Benjamin Moss Comment on this... |
