seeking asylum (Thu Sep 25, 2003 2:29pm ET)report post

Even though that part about abortion was a bit disturbing to me, I loved how he interacted with the kids, and how he went out of his way to help GianLuigi and the other boy.

Kindergarten Cop is definitely the remake. Schwartzeneggar's character went out of his way to help the little boy and his mother get away from his abusive, drug-dealing father.

Thanks!

Life is beautiful (Wed Sep 24, 2003 3:48pm ET)report post
by Nancy King
I saw this movie for the first time when the Bravo Channel showed it, but didn't like it because it was the Italian version. Thank goodness "Bob" gave permission for it to be dubbed into English! I bought it a week later at a yard sale for $2!

I didn't like the sad parts because I'm very tender-hearted and cry easily, just like my mom. When they did come in the movie, I just turned it off and put it away.

When I don't have anything to do, I sit around and daydream after watching it. I like to think that Guido didn't die, that when the man shot him, he played dead and got back up when the coast was clear. At the end of the movie, he'd be running up the hill with Joshua to meet Dora, and they'd live happily ever after. I know that the point "Bob" was trying to make with this film wasthat Guido payed the ultimate price to protect his son, but it was just too sad for me. I loved the funny parts, though!

I liked how it didn't show Guido and Dora in the act of making love; there's just too much of that in films. It leaves something to the imagination that way. I would like to see him do a "nudie", however, if he hasn't done so already! Just one big flash and get it over with, not like in the movie, The Piano, which was also a beautiful film despite the nudity.

I loved seeing him win his Oscar. I read somewhere that english wasn't his language, so he let his body do his talking for him, by jumping on chairs.

I'm just the opposite. When I get really excited in public, I can't let it out like that. I'll just smile and kind of giggle; I'm cheering on the inside though, just like those people on Price is Right who don't roll on the floor.

Every once in a while, I have very erotic dreams. I'm not sure what to say to the guy I'm in bed with, so I let my hands and lips do the talking for me. I guess I know how "Bob" felt winning his award.

It's really to bad that some people have trashed this movie, saying that it was making light of the holocaust. They're just jealous that acting ia very noble profession and journalism is not.

This movie ranks right in there with some of my favorite shows and movies: Abe Lincoln, Elephant man, certain MASH episodes, a certain STTNG episode (Dark Page). With some of these, like Life is Beautiful, I'm crying on the inside; sometimes I can't cry out loud, but have a very funny feeling in my gut though.
They have moved me to tears and made me think.

This movie reminds me of one of my favorite songs, If You Could Read My Mind by Gordon Lightfoot, the line that goes, "And you won't read that book again because the end is just too hard to take."

Thanks for Listening!

Nancy King

PS- Hey, Bob! If you were listening, email me, be my guest! I'd love to know what you think!
You'll have to peel me off the ceiling because I'd be so thrilled!

Greeting. Reveal not every secret you have to a friend, for how can you tell but that friend may hereafter become an enemy. And bring not all mischief you are able to upon an enemy, for he may one day become your friend.
I am from Maldives and too poorly know English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Synthroid discount discount cialis free sample synthroid."

With best wishes ;-), Frank.

Son of the Pink Panther (Sat Sep 20, 2003 4:03pm ET)report post

I always looked for this movie when it used to be on The Movieplex channel, which branched off from the Encore Channel. Since it is no longer on, I have gotten it on VHS.

I loved how Jacques and Princess Yasmine seemed to fall in love at first sight, his forever quoting poetry, his bumbling around, and his risking his life to save her.

That part at the very end was funny too how he was trying to get his sword into the scabbard and couldn't do it. That seemed strange. Didn't he and Yasmine make love? That seems like a sexual euphemism for sex; I think it dates back to ancient Rome. I'll bet they made jokes like that all the time in the movie, Asterix & Obelix vs. Caesar, but again, I'm just guessing! thanks! Nancy King

Pinocchio (Fri Sep 19, 2003 7:10pm ET)report post

I don't care what people say, I think it's sexy when grown ups act like little kids!

The very first actor i "took on" as a hero was Jerry Lewis. I just loved the way he could make me laugh and how he had such a sunny attitude about life. It makes me sad now that he is sick, but he'll get through it. It is true: roberto Benigni is the Italian Jerry Lewis. He can make me laugh just like that.

I love his other movies, too like:
Life is Beautiful, Johnny Stecchino (Holy Cleopatra), Son of the Pink panther, Seeking Asylum.

I loved how he acted when he won for Life is Beautiful; he's a nut! I'm so sorry he didn't win for Pinocchio, but hey, everybody has an "off year" every once in a while; look at Madonna and Tom Green. They won "Razzies" for Swept Away, Freddy Got Fingered. Even Jerry Lewis had some bad breaks.

I loved how he acted on Conan Obrien. He said that if he won for pinocchio, he would 'swing in a rope naked" because he'd "already done this jump on chairs"! That look on Conan's face was priceless! I also loved it when they traded off clothes; Conan's so tall (6'4) and he's so short (5'6 or 7, I'm guessing!)

One thing I did not like about the movie though was the line that went, " to tell a lie is always bad. Don't ever do it again."

A piece of advice: NEVER compete against Jack Nicholson; he'll always win.

By the way, what did you think of Geppetto, the Disney movie w/ Drew Carey? I liked the soundtrack (Pleasure Island, Since I Gave My Heart Away were my favorite songs)?
Strangely, Jiminy Cricket was missing from the film. Could they have been doing Hamlet (To thine own self be true?)?

Thanks!
