Gil Junger
He was nominated for an Emmy and a Directors' Guild Award for directing the landmark 'coming out' episode of Ellen last year. He has made a name for himself as a top notch television director on shows such as Dharma & Greg, Ellen, Soul Man, Blossom and Nurses. He won a Humanitas Award in 1995 for The John Larroquette Show. Among the other successful series he has been associated with are Soap, Benson, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest and It's A Living.
Junger came to directing through a career that began as a gofer just two weeks out of the Radio/TV/Film School at the University of Texas in Austin. He graduated with honors, yet admits that with the exception of a bit of editing technique, he learned his trade while on the job.
He is passionate about still photography, having shot and printed his work for over 25 years. His other passion is music; having spent four years in a nine-piece rock band called Mid-Life Crisis. He is still involved in his own music company. He also is an avid golfer.
