After receiving his M.FA. in directing from the American Film Institute in 1994, Mark Waters made his directorial debut with Miramax Films' The House of Yes. Adapted from the stage play and starring Parker Posey and Freddie Prinze Jr., The House of Yes was an award- winning film at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. Waters and producer Bob Simonds met in 1988 through writers Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, and Head Over Heels is their first collaboration. Upcoming projects include Genes, based on a Michael Crichton screenplay, at Warner Bros. and Domestic Partners at Dreamworks. Waters, a native of South Bend, Indiana, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He was a theatre actor and director in San Francisco before attending the A.F.I.
