A large number of villains, bullets and explosions couldn't kill James Bond for over 40 years. Die Another Day proved that it only takes a filmcrew to terminate the spy-hero. James Bond movies are not directors movies. Tamahori did a great job when directing Once Were Warriors. Even on Die Another he shows us his talent with a great opening scene, but it's too far from the original Bond. Tamahori could have made a great classic Bond film if the story wasn't that much over the top.

The Edge is the most badly directed film ever. It is appallingly bad. Film students take note: this is how not to direct.
