Taylor was honored with a Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actress in Ron Howard's Ransom, opposite Mel Gibson, Rene Russo and Gary Sinise. In 1995, the Sundance Film Festival awarded Lili Taylor the first ever Special Grand Jury Prize for Acting for her work in Girls Town, Cold Fever and I Shot Andy Warhol. Taylor was also honored with an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress in Household Saints and co-starred in Short Cuts, which received a Golden Globe for Best Ensemble Acting.
Taylor made her film debut in the sleeper hit Mystic Pizza. The following year she appeared in Say Anything with John Cusack. Her other films include Kicked in the Head, Illtown, Bright Angel, Born on the Fourth of July, Dogfight, and Mrs. Parker and The Vicious Circle.
Taylor made her Broadway debut at The Roundabout Theater in Chekov's Three Sisters. She was a member of the Naked Angels before forming her own theater company, Machine Full, where she made her directorial debut in the Machine Full production of Tom Gilroy's Halcion Days. Taylor has been involved in every facet of theater from her participation in the Cultural Exchange Program which took her to Czechoslovakia, to the Humana Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, to her starring role in the critically acclaimed Aven U Boys at the American Place Theater.
