| by Georgina Marrero I felt a tingle back in 02 when he won Best Adapted Screenplay for Gods and Monsters; and then, again, when Chicago won all those awards. Tonight, however, I took one look at him as he received accolade after accolade for Dreamgirls, and realized, Omigod, I knew him: this is the same Bill Condon who kept taking top honors in our Vergil and Latin Lyric Poetry classes in Steele Commager's classroom in Hamilton Hall! A slight case of sophomoric envy has turned into great pride at being able to acknowledge a great member of the cinematic profession as...well, someone I knew, way back when. Congratulations, Bill! May you have many more successes--and continue to so royally entertain us--for many years to come! Comment on this... |

It was came to my attention that the film industry was trying to cast Indiana University as an institution that disagreed and refused funding to Kinsey for his research. Nothing could be farther from the truth in actuality the university president at the time, Herman Wells, petitioned the board of trustees for more money for Kinsey's ground breaking research. It is disheartening that they would exclude this fact from the movie. Also the university has continued a long tradition of keeping Kinsey's research relevant by way of a museum dedicated to him to class’s offered about the study of human sexuality. While I am glade the film is being made, I wish the accuracy of the film reflected what actually happened. Comment on this... |

| by Anne Stewart Of all the interesting people in our cultural history,It's sad that Bill Condon was seduced by the hype of Kinsey. Kinsey was a man who's own internal demons allowed for the spread of sexual abuse of children. Condon confused the issues of research and intelligence with a sick man's agenda. Kinsey used his manipulative research to advance his own need to tear down healthy and safe sexual boundaries, particulary safety boundaries for children and women. Sadly,Bill Condon now will help Hollywood once again do the same to our society. One wishes that Condon would be brave enough to write and direct a movie about how Hollywood has the need to continue to "grow their own victims" either for money,sex or power.
