I stayed with Bernard Rose one summer, the summer after he filmed Ivansxtc. He has a very funny laugh. Oh and I loved Immortal Beloved.

I loved the movie "Immortal Beloved" by Bernard Rose. I have always loved Beethoven's music. Although I viewed "Amadeus", I am just not a Mozart fan. I like some of his music, but Beethoven is the composer (classical composer that is) that does it for me.

I know much of the movie "Immortal Beloved" is fictionalized, but it intrigues me just the same. Some of the facts are accurate, although much of it isn't.

I commend Bernard Rose for having the foresight to do this movie. He is a visionary and had the "guts" to produce this movie. Many people, critics, etc. made such a do over "Amadeus". I think they should have had the same fanfare for "Immortal Beloved" as they did for Mozart's movie. But, that is my opinion. More than any other composer, Beethoven changed music forever. Bach, Hayden, and Mozart did extend music in their fashion, but it is Ludwig van Beethoven who actually changed classical music. We may never have had or had to wait much longer to get composers like Tchaikovski, Chopin, Liszt, etc. So, much more praise should be bestowed on Bernard Rose.

There aren't many words to describe Beethoven's music. I am just glad that I am able to listen to it and was able to view Mr. Roses vision.

It has been many years since I saw Paperhouse and Candyman together at that place in Kings Cross (the Scala?) -- Paperhouse was by far the more terrifying -- but they stuck with me so long that I watched ivansxtc tonight rented from Blockbuster on the strength of BRs name.
I've NEVER seen a film start with such effect.
When I got that it was all about a kiss from a woman he didn't even know I was 'deeply moved' as they say. Bit of a been there, done that moment. Very shocking. Very uplifting.
The future of humanity is not doomed.
