Disneymania is back online! (Wed Apr 14, 2004 1:44am ET)report post
by KDJ
I just wanted to know all the Disney fans out there that after almost 3 years since disneymania.org was taken away by domain thieves, we've lately come back online under a new domain:

http://www.disneymania.ws

We'd like to see you again, as we've totally remodeled the site and used php-nuke so people like you can contribute with your material or ideas. There's a membership module and a forum were we can share everything regarding each Disney film.

I hope we can build together the greatest Disney community on the net!

Kind regards,

KDJ.-

Bad Side of Disney (Fri Jan 30, 2004 5:31pm ET)report post

I have recently read several essays that depect the meaning behind the Walt Disney Productions. Personally, I think that Walt Disney is a wonderful man who brings happiness into the homes and hearts of many young children around the world. To any adults that these movies supposidely offend, "Don't watch it!" These movies are meant for children and I garentee that a five year old is not going to portray that blacks are taking over the pride lands from movies such as the "Lion King." This article by Margaret Lazarus has been driving me crazy, and I am thankful that I foundly found a place to vent my opinion.

I have been an avid student of the life and career of Walt Disney since I was 13 years old, and I am now in my 50s. I have read practically everything that has been written on him, good and bad, and have been privileged to hear spontaneous recordings of him speaking of his life.

Recently, I learned that Sharon, the second daughter was adopted. She passed away within the last decade.

In reference to the ALICE COMEDIES and OUT OF THE INKWELL, the Fleischer sereis was much more than "moderately successful," as it was important enough for Walt to imitate it. Although Walt always mentioned Paul Terry's "Aesop's Fables" as his inspiration, he never really admitted being infulenced by Fleischer. The fact is that the level of drawing,
animation, and concepts in the Fleischer series
was on a much higher level than Disney was on at that time. The fact that the Fleischers produced their Inkwell films for 10 years is also proof that they were more than moderately successful.

At the time Margaret Winkler "discovered" Disney, she was distributing many of the important animated short subjects at the time including OUT OF THE INKWELL and FELIX THE CAT. So it is "Peggy" Winkler, the first woman film distirbutor who should be credited for giving the world Walt Disney.
