Patricia Rozema Biography (2)

Patricia Rozema adapted Jane Austen's MANSFIELD PARK with a keen appreciation for Austen's wit and wisdom - and a modern twist on Fanny Price.

Rozema made an impressive feature film debut with the original, magical comedy-drama I've Heard The Mermaids Singing, starring Sheila McCarthy which won the Prix de la JEUNESSE in Cannes. She went to write and direct The White Room and When Night Is Falling, a critically acclaimed modern retelling of the myth of Cupid and Psyche.

Her short feature Bach Cello Suite #6: Six Gestures, one of a sextet of short films with the cellist Yo Yo Ma, was awarded the Golden Rose of Montreux in 1997 and an Emmy.
