| by Peter Schmitz Paul Mazursky is this country's most underappreciated film artist. Next Stop, Greenwich Village, An Unmarried Woman, Willie and Phil, and Enemies: A Love Story are all classics. For my money, Next Stop . . . is the best coming of age story ever filmed in the United States. At the very least he ought to be given an Oscar for lifetime achievement. Even after seeing most of his movies several times, I'd fly practically anywhere just to see a retrospective of his work on the big screen. The pervasive neglect of his output reflects badly on our film culture. Comment on this... |
