Andrew Dominik

Andrew Dominik graduated from Swinburne Film School in 1988. He worked in commercials and music videos.

In 2007, Dominik directed the internationally acclaimed drama THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD, which starred Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. Named the Best Film of 2007 by the San Francisco and St. Louis Film Critics Associations, the film also received Best Film nominations from the Empire Awards and the London Film Critics Circle. In addition, Pitt earned the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival, where the film premiered, while both Affleck and cinematographer Roger Deakins received multiple honors for their work, culminating in Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cinematography, respectively.

Dominik's first feature film was CHOPPER, based on the life story of notorious Australian criminal Chopper Read. The critically acclaimed film received many awards, including: Best Achievement in Direction, Australian Film Institute; Best Film, and Best Director, Film Critics Circle of Australia; and Best Actor, and Best Independent New Filmmaker, Inside Film Australia.
