Veena Sood
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Sood came to Canada when she was seven. Raised and educated in Calgary, Alberta, she became a drama student at The University of Calgary at age 17. There she helped co-found Calgary's Loose Moose Theatre Company, best known for their development of the Theatresports, the world renowned improvisational theatre company.
Her feature films include Touch of Pink, Nina's Heavenly Delights, BBC's Compulsion (U.K), and most recently the upcoming The Big Year, and Live With It. Her films have opened at the Sundance Film Festival, the London BFI Festival, and L.A.'s Outfest.
In addition to hosting her own talk show, In the Company of Women, on the CBC, Sood has acted as host and master of ceremonies for gala events, awards shows and television specials.
She's been a featured performer at many theatre festivals including; The Glasgow Comedy Festival, The Vancouver Comedy Festival and The Winnipeg Comedy Festival. Recently Sood toured her one-woman comedy improv show to Glasgow and Edinburgh, where she traveled the moors and heath looking for a good vindaloo.
