I want tockinng about with him if e possible
about problems classical opera. I'm also smaller rejisior of classical opera freom Bulgaria.

He is endeed a great " regiseur " everything is beautiful in the screen..but.. his plots are not always good( too simple or disappointed ) and he is not good at all directing actors.. with the exception of TAYLOR and BURTON, who were magnificent playing SHAKESPEARE.. I´m sure they directed themselves. Fanny was great in CALLAS but not the film. I think he may be one of the best staging operas but not directing films.

I´ve decided to continue because many people or Franco himself may say ..What ? Bad plots ? Shakespeare´s plays bad ? Of course I didn´t mean that. But I´ve felt disappointed with MUSSOLUNI, BROTHER SUN and CALLAS.
ROMEO AND JULIET and THE TAMING are master pieces but in HAMLET , CLOSE was adorable but GIBSON was absolutely inappropiate. In MUSSOLINI he had great women but the result was not satisfactory.

Zeffirelli is an exceptionally sensitive and talented man and the Italians do not see further than the end of their noses - too busy are they, wallowing in self-pity and negativism, at their failure to achieve little or any political or social acclaim in today's global arena. You should be less short-sighted and less narrow-minded and more proud of your nation's achievements - such as giving birth to one Zeffirelli.
