Thierry Lhermitte worked with Veber previously on his 1998 hit, The Dinner Game (Le diner de cons). The film was nominated for six Césars including Best Film.

In addition to acting, Lhermitte is a producer and writer. His most recent project was Le prince du pacifique (The Prince of the Pacific), which he produced, wrote, and starred.

Lhermitte has appeared in almost 80 films, 20 of which have been released in the last five years.
