Anna Popplewell most recently appeared as Vermeer's eldest daughter in Peter Webber's globally acclaimed drama, Girl with a Pearl Earring. The 16-year-old made her professional acting debut in the 1998 television adaptation of du Maurier's novel, Frenchman's Creek. She has appeared in such other feature films as The Little Vampire, Me Without You, Mansfield Park and Thunderpants. Her television roles include Dirty Tricks and the BBC dramas Love in a Cold Climate and Daniel Deronda. Popplewell was born and lives in London, the daughter of a barrister father and doctor mother. She is the eldest of three siblings, all of whom have attended Allsorts Drama for Children, a Saturday-morning drama class. Her sister Lulu recently appeared in Richard Curtis' Love Actually, and her brother Freddie was Michael Darling in P.J. Anna Popplewell (1988) is a British child actress.Popplewell began acting at the age of six, taking classes at the Allsorts Drama School. She began acting professionally in the TV production Frenchman's Creek in 1998. She made her film debut in 1999 in the film Mansfield Park and has since appeared in supporting roles in films like The Little Vampire (2000) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003). Her first major role is as Susan Pevensie in the film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005).
Popplewell is the eldest of three children born to Andrew Popplewell (a barrister) and Debra (an immunologist); her paternal grandfather, Sir Oliver Popplewell, was a former High Court judge. Her two siblings, Freddie and Lulu, are also actors. She lives in London and attends North London Collegiate School, a prestigious girl's school, where she took her GCSEs last year. She also appears in school play productions.
