Since moving with his mother to Los Angeles from his native Texas when he was seven, Jay R. Ferguson remembers that it was Star Wars – the mother of all science-fiction films – that prompted him to be a lifelong fan of the genre. Now, Ferguson gets his chance to take the plunge and indulge his fantasies in broadcast television's newest and biggest sci-fi adventure series as he now co-stars as an expert diver in Surface.

It's a dream come true for me to be working in such an amazing adventure project as ‘Surface,' said Ferguson, who first moved as a child to Los Angeles when his mother also sought out an acting career. Before Surface, Ferguson was a series regular in Glory Days. Earlier, as a teenager, he worked as a cast regular in Evening Shade (opposite Burt Reynolds) and in The Outsiders. Most recently, Ferguson had a recurring role on Judging Amy.

Ferguson's other television credits include guest appearances on NBC's Medium and McKenna. He also appeared in the television movie The Price of Love. Ferguson's feature-film credits include Higher Learning, The Year That Trembled, Hollywood Palms, Campfire Tales and Blue Ridge Falls (an official selection of the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival). On stage, Ferguson has appeared in A Flea in Her Ear and Good Woman of Szechwan, both in Los Angeles.

Ferguson resides in Los Angeles. His birthday is July 25.
