Laura Bertram

Laura Bertram plays the spirited but mysterious Trance Gemin in Andromeda. The wealth of acting experience Bertram brings to Andromeda has earned her accolades that include two Gemini Awards (the Canadian Emmy-equivalent) for Best Performance in a Children's or Youth Program (for the series Ready or Not) and two additional nominations (for that series and for the 1997 telefilm Platinum.) She also earned a 2003 Canadian TV/film Leo Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance (for the Andromeda episode The Dark Backward).

Her television credits include the starring role as 19th-century Irish-American mill-worker Mary Driscoll in the short Dear America ... So Far From Home. Bertram has also appeared in the miniseries Seasons of Love and has guested on such series as Soul Food, Wind at My Back, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Mission Genesis (SCI FI's first original dramatic series) and Are You Afraid of the Dark? Her telefilms include Family Pictures (1993) with Anjelica Huston, Sam Neill and Kyra Sedgwick, The Boys Next Door (1996) with Nathan Lane and Robert Sean Leonard, Night of the Twisters (1996) Sins of Silence (1996).

Bertram's theater credits include the lead in Cinderella, and The Canadian Opera Company's Mario and the Magician.

Her training includes seven years studying with the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus.
