Joachim Calmeyer

One of Norway's most acclaimed actors, Joachim Calmeyer's career on both stage and screen spans an enormous range. He has played roles in classic dramas by such writers as Shakespeare, Racine, and Feydeau as well as the modern heroes of Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, and Edward Albee (to name a few). In addition to his film and theatre work, he has frequently appeared in Television Theatre and been regularly heard on radio both as a reader and in Radio Theatre. In 1986, he was nominated for the Amanda Prize as Best Male Actor for LARS I PORTEN. In 2001, In recognition of his acting and significance to Norwegian theatre, Calmeyer was made a Knight (1st class) of the Order of St. Olav, which is equivalent to receiving the British title Sir.
