Edith Piaf Memorial. (Wed Mar 8, 2006 10:04am ET)report post
by Maurice Colgan
Maurice. http://irelandtoo.blogspot.com

A statue of Edith Piaf in Paris is long overdue

I first heard of Edith Piaf, when I was 11. I thought that her LAST name was Pilaf.
She died 3 months, AFTER I was born.
Last October, I sung LA VIE EN ROSE for my audition for CRAZY FOR YOU by Gershwins Brothers.
I read her 2 books, read many books about her.
And I read Pam Gems's play too.
She would have 90, this year.
I loved Elaine Paige, playing Edith.
I saw a woman this past summer-she LOOKED like Edith.
Spooky. Bon Jour Cheri.

I wish there were more clubs and assosiations.
Edith Piaf was the greatest singer of the century but forgotten now by her people
