Roz Ryan
At just 16 years old, Ryan began performing in clubs in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. In 1979, she left Detroit and headed for New York where she quickly landed a role in Ain't Misbehavin'. Since that time, Ryan has appeared on Broadway in Dreamgirls and One Mo' Time. She spent this summer on a second national tour performing the role of Matron Mama Morton in Chicago. Additionally, she is the only woman who has played the part of The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol.
Ryan, who considers herself a show business gypsy, has performed in theater productions around the world and has won the South Florida Critics Circle Carbonell Award twice for Best Actress in a Musical for her performances in Cole Porter Requests The Pleasure and Blues In the Night, for which she also won a Zoni Award for Best Actress.
Following a brief stay in Miami, Ryan came west when she landed the role of Sister Amelia in the television series Amen with Sherman Hemsley. Her other television credits include Danny, starring Daniel Stern, and The Good News. In addition to theater and television, Ryan has appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's film The Cotton Club and voiced the character of Thalia in Disney's animated feature Hercules. Currently, Ryan is the voice of Wade's mom in Kim Possible and Madam President in Buzz Lightyear on Command. She also co-produced the independent film Nikita Blues.
Ryan, who calls Los Angeles home, is the mother of one son and two beautiful granddaughters.
