After graduating from the Gaiety School of Acting,
Barry Barnes's numerous stage credits include Antonio in
Twelfth Night; Malcolm in
Macbeth; Rory in the Royal Court's production of
Cavalcaders; Bentham in
Juno and the Paycock; Donal Davoren in
The Shadow of a Gunman; Rehill in
Sour Grapes; John in
Into the Heartland; Sir Henry in
Cuirt an Mhean Oiche, Manus in the Abbey Theatre's production of
Translations, which also toured the U.S.; Dave in
Lovers at Versailles; and Jim Bayliss in
All My Sons at the Abbey Theatre. On television and in film he has appeared in the MGM production of
Moll Flanders; as Michael Dolan in
The Hanging Gale; as DI Fagan in
The Painted Lady; the BBC drama,
Vicious Circle; as Sergeant Ruane in the second series of
The Ambassador; in
Thaddeus O'Sullivan's
Ordinary Decent Criminal; he was DI Simms in
The Escapist and he played Sean in the RTE mini-series,
No Tears. Most recently, he appeared in
Spin the Bottle.
