Biography #2 (for The Majestic)

Brian Howe began his career in regional and summer stock theatre before film and TV roles brought him to Los Angeles a decade ago.

He majored in theatre at Rhode Island College and following graduation, he was invited to appear in a summer stock staging of Marvin Hamlisch's They're Playing Our Song at the Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania, his first professional job.

He returned to New England and spent two years with the comedy smash, Shear Madness, where he played all the male roles during his tenure with the show. At a benefit for the Stage Company of Boston, he met playwright David Mamet in a show called LA/NY Sketches, a fateful meeting that would prove fruitful to Howe's career in later years. During his stay in Boston, he also won a guest-starring role on the TV series, Spenser: For Hire, got his SAG card and moved to New York.

In the Big Apple, he appeared on-and-off Broadway in such productions as Mamet's Oleanna and David Ives' Foreplay. When not appearing on the stage, Howe guest-starred on several TV series including the Emmy-winning Law & Order.

Howe ventured to Los Angeles during the television pilot season of 1992, and won a role in the NBC pilot Families. He has guest-starred on such series as Touched By An Angel, Lateline, Family Law, CSI, Crossing Jordan, and Lifetime's Any Day Now in a recurring role. He was also a series regular on The Bonnie Hunt Show.

On the big screen, Howe reunited with Hunt on her first directorial effort, Return to Me, appeared in David Mamet's comedy, State and Main, as well as Dead Man on Campus, Spy Hard and most recently in K-PAX, co-starring opposite Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey. He will next be seen in Steven Spielberg's film Catch Me If You Can.
