| by Phyllis Gurley I am trying to get a message to Mr. Turner. I am a 72 year old female with a husband,children and grandchildren and am especially interested in the fact that Chimney Rock Park in Chimney Rock, North Carolina has been put up for sale. It is such a beautiful, natural example of the work of nature and near Lake Lure, N.C. I think he may be familiar with the area. It has been offered for 55 million dollars with the hopes that the state would make a park out of it but I am afraid the state will not want to invest that much and that some developer will come in and make residential homes in the place of letting the public in to view the beauty and enjoy hiking. I think if some people had their way they would take a bulldozer and level every mountain up there. I am assuming that Mr. Turner might not want the investment himself but if he knows of anyone to contact to think about investing in it they had 250,00 paying visitors last year from all over the world. It is one part of America that has not been ruined so far. My only interest is that I have a 4 room house and bath near the place and my grandchildren and children have learned what it is to have a little peace and quiet and to listen to nature and fish and swim in the Broad River. I know he is a nature lover and I really do not know of anyone else that might be concerned enough to be interested in what might happen to it.
