Khaira Ledeyo

Khaira Ledeyo is a versatile performer whose work has spanned the arenas of stage, screen and voice. Her love for performing was first sparked when she was 15. Mesmerized by the dynamic original works of Mimagination, once a mime and clown troupe based in Edmonton, she found herself creating with them six months later as the youngest member of the team. Her foundation in physical theater led to numerous collaborations in theatrical, dance and musical productions. She later began her television career playing Sui-Marie on the educational series MathAbility.

In 1991, Ledeyo left Canada for five years to explore Asia before returning to continue theater studies at Studio 58 in Vancouver. In Japan, she made her international debut as a singer recording the theme song which played for an international audience of almost two million people during the 1992 Sapporo Snow Festival, and continued hosting and performing in cultural and dance exhibitions as well as choreographing the musical Peter Pan.

Since returning to Canada, she has appeared in numerous film, television and theatrical productions including The Outer Limits, The Fearing Mind, Millennium, First Wave, DaVinci's Inquest, The Sentinel, Screwed, Special Delivery, the National Screen Institute's award-winning Dissonance, and Rumble Theater's Other Women.

Her most recent adventures have taken her to the fun-filled world of animation. Ledeyo is the voice of Tai-Tai in the popular PBS children's animation series Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat and other curious incarnations in the series Kitou, the Six-eyed Monster.
