Summer Glau was born in San Antonio, Texas, were she was raised by her contractor father and schoolteacher mother. She began her career as a ballet dancer, until an injury forced her to stop dancing. Soon after, Summer began to study acting. She has worked on various television series including CSI, Cold Case, Angel and The 4400. Her work as a prima ballerina on Angel began her relationship with Joss Whedon, whom soon after cast her in Firefly.
Now working in film, Summer made her debut in the small role of Shelley in the teen comedy Sleepover, and she has just finished production on the independent film Mammoth.
