Nicoletta Braschi recently won acclaim as the schoolteacher Dora in Life is Beautiful. In real life, she is Benigni's wife and PINOCCHIO represents her debut as a film producer. She made her film debut in Benigni's first film Tu Mi Turbi (You Upset Me), then went on to star in his comedies Johnny Stecchino, The Monster and Little Devils. She also appeared with Benigni in Jim Jarmusch's Down by Law and went on to take a role in Jarmusch's Mystery Train. Her other credits include Giuseppe Bertolucci's Segreti Segreti and La Domenica Sepcialmente; Marco Ferreri's Come Buoni I Bainchi; Marco Tullio Giordana's Un Delitto Italiano and Paolo Virzi's Ovosodo, for which she won a Dontello Award as Best Supporting Actress.
