Influences? (Sun Nov 21, 2004 12:00am ET)report post

"Cherish" was on the Mystery movie channel tonight. Great film! Noticed several cinematic influences including Kubrick and Tarantino. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Mr. Finn's work to possibly spot others. Anyone care to compare notes? Big smile

Aside from the Crying Game and Leon-The Professional, this movie has affected me more than many others I have seen.

I have always enjoyed the performences of Ms. Robin Tunney and I enjoyed her as Zoe in this film and watching the changes come about in her.

I was never aware of the brilliant Director Finn Taylor but now that I am I will be searching for others movies directed by him.

Also Mr. Tim Blake Nelson is a wonderful actor and his portrayal of his character in this movie was so charming and wonderful I half found myself falling in love with him along with Zoe.

But the one who hit me the hardest was the magnificent Brad Hunt, this may sound corny but his character during the scene where Hall and Oates song "She's Gone" was playing and He fell to his knees after smelling the flower, it grabbed at my heart and although I think I recall the director's comments saying that was supposed to be a funny scene - to me it was beautiful.

Thank You all, the Director, Producer, Cast and Crew - I will watch this movie many times over and enjoy it very much.

P.S - Anyway I could personally write a letter to any of You? (smiles)

Dear Mr. Taylor,

Unless we excercise freedom, it's meaningless. Cherish, your transcendent masterpiece eloquently makes the point and cannot help, but shine a light on our own lives as we confront the choices that challenge your characters. I think you have made the perfect movie.

Sincerely,

Stephen Kane

I thought 'Cherish' was brilliant! It was strange and somehwhat twisted yet sexy and romantic. I loved the way you kept DJ's(Cupids) character mysterious yet breathlessly sexy throughout. Your choice of music was right on the mark. Everything was perfect. A great cast and fabulous acting, great music, mystery, and romance. I give this movie a ten out of ten. Thanks for such a great job!!
