Maria Canals
Maria Canals recently took home an Alma Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her role as the sultry Ms. Azteca on Nickelodeon's The Brother's Garcia. She also has a recurring role on American Family starring Edward James Olmos on P.B.S. where she plays Christy, the spirited daughter of Raquel Welch's character. She has worked continuously with guest appearances on series such as Popular, Murder She Wrote, Caroline in the City and Veronica's Closet. Her television work also includes the voice of Hawkgirl in Cartoon Network's new prime-time pedal-to-the-metal animated action adventure series, Justice League.
On stage in Los Angeles, Canals has performed in Diva L.A. and Changes of Heart, for which she received an Ovation Award nomination for Best Featured Actress. In New York, Maria built her resume with theatrical productions of Romeo & Juliet, Mixed Blessing, The Glass Menagerie, A Cradle of Sparrows and Will Power.
