Fatih Akin was born 1973 to Turkish parents in Hamburg, Germany. In 1994 he began studying film in Hamburg and has worked as an actor in films and on TV off and on since 1993. After having directed some highly successful short films, Akin moved on to his first full length feature, Kurz und Schmerzlos which won numerous awards in Germany and at international film festivals. In July was his critically acclaimed hit in Germany in 2000. Currently, he is in production for a new film, Solino, teaming up once more with Moritz Bleibtreu.
