Commentary on Michael's work - late 2006 (Sun Aug 27, 2006 12:47am ET)report post

His work on the new “Battlestar Galactica” TV series enjoys growing popularity for which Michael can take some credit. The mini-series which started Sci-fi Channel’s foray into BSG won an Emmy award, and saw the combination of Zoic’s incredible HD special effects, Ronald D. Moore’s solid writing, the cinema verite doco camera-style and Michael’s use of improvisatory acting techniques to wring incredible drama and character realization from the performers.

Notable from watching the series is the choice to use Michael for pivotal episodes. The first season of BSG kicked off with the nerve wracking “33”, directed by Michael and garnering another Emmy. Michael was brought in to ensure the end season two-parter “Kobol’s Last Gleaming” delivered the power the script promised.

“Scattered” opened Season 2, directed by Michael, and he was there to close the season with “Lay Down Your Burdens”. Ronald D. Moore acknowledges Michael’s directing power in his podcasts, citing the “certain quality that distinguishes Michael’s work”.

Also noteworthy was the acknowledgement of Michael’s writing contribution with a teleplay credit for part 1 and a screenplay credit for part 2 of the very tense Resurrection Ship.

Michael recently directed episodes for “A House Divided” and is the Executive Producer on “Love Across Time”, a six-part sci-fi anthology series to be shot in his native Australia.

I'am sixteen years old and one of the hugest fans of Anne Rice you'll ever find.I think, despite what other morons say, that they did a miraculous job on the Queen of the Damned film.If there is to be another Anne Rice film I certainly hope it's left in their hands.I've been going razy over the past two years trying to find a way to get in contact with either Mr. Rymer or Jorge Saralegui. And please don't worry, like I said, I'm only sixteen and incapable of stalking anyone! I really wanted to know what happend to all of the wonderful costumes Alliyah wore in the film? Yes,of course I'am also a huge and loyal fan of her,*R.I.P*I wish somebody could someday answer my question! If anyone has information,PLEASE,PLEASEemail me!!!
