Ron Cook Forum

| by Shelli All I can say is that seeing Ron Cook's title performance in Richard III when I was in high school changed my life. It completely turned me on to Shakespeare. Prior to seeing this BBC performance, I'd dismissed Shakespeare as being stuffy verse to be read in class, comprised of stuffy characters that don't translate to modern day very effectively. Imagine me turning on the tv one day and seeing this conniving sweet-talker wanting to take his revenge on the world -- it was amazing! I didn't know what the show was, but I thought it was great stuff! Then I found out it was Richard III and I was amazed. He brought the character to life and I realized then that these characters were capable of modern-day reactions to modern-day situations -- they were merely in another time period. Unfortunately, Richard III isn't a popular play to be performed, but you can bet I've seen it when it has been! I'll just have to hope my taped version holds up! If you ever see this, thanks Ron! | by Ronald O. Cook Darn, Ron... Not only do we share names, we have something of the same profession. If you will type in The Enigmni or go to www.enigmni.com and see the little e-book that I put up online a few years back while working for Hearst. Would that you did not have my name...I am now 60, but you do the name well. Cheers, Ron O. Cook Comment on this... | |||||||||
