Summer Phoenix was born in Winterpark, Florida, and moved to Los Angeles with her sisters, Rain and Liberty, and her brothers, Joaquin and River, when she was only two years old. Phoenix was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in THE BELIEVER by the 2002 IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards.

As a small child, Phoenix auditioned for and appeared in several television shows and pilots.  At age nine, her family moved to Orlando, and the young actress soon had a guest-starring role with her brother Joaquin in the New Leave It To Beaver series.  She followed this with a role in the feature film RUSSKIES,  portraying Joaquin's little sister.  Phoenix also appeared in the TV series The Swamp Thing.

At fourteen, Phoenix moved to Central America, but it wasn't until age eighteen that she decided to seriously pursue an acting career.  She then moved to New York City and enrolled in NYU's Film School in the fall of 1995.  Not long after, Phoenix appeared in an MTV music video directed by Stephen Dorff for the British rock band Catherine Wheel.  Soon after, she appeared in a music video for the band Space Hog, directed by Jake Scott.  Her latest commercial venture is a Dockers print campaign shot by Annie Leibovitz, which has been featured in Vanity Fair and Vogue.

Phoenix recently starred in the independent film ESTHER KAHN for award-winning French director Arnaud Desplechin and Why Not Productions. She also had a role in the recent film DINNER RUSH, which also starred Danny Aiello and John Corbett.  She will also be appearing in the television production WASTED.

Her other feature film credits include THE FACULTY, ARRESTING GINA, I WOKE UP EARLY THE DAY I DIED, co-starring Billy Zane, Amanda Plummer and Rosanna Arquette, and GIRL, with Dominique Swain.
