Eric Blakeney

Eric Blakeney makes his feature film directorial debut with Gun Shy, for which he also wrote the script.

Blakeney served as executive producer of the popular television series 21 Jump St. and executive producer and co-creator of the drama series Booker with Richard Grieco. He was also co-executive producer of the Matt Waters series with Montel Williams, and of V.R. 5, a series set in cyberspace starring Laurie Singer. In addition he co-executive produced and wrote the television movie Generation X and wrote the telefilm Fighting for My Daughter.

Blakeney previously served as story editor for the series Wise Guy and Houston Knights. He began his career as a freelance episodic writer for Cagney & Lacey, Crime Story, Moonlighting, Max Headroom The Equalizer and Bay Watch.

In features, Blakeney has written and will direct the forthcoming Without Apparent Motive, and has collaborated on the screenplay for George Miller's Mad Max IV.

A native of New York, Blakeney attended Juilliard before moving to London for five years, playing bass guitar with several bands. In order to impress an aspiring actress he had met, he began writing scenes for a theater workshop sponsored by the London Arts Council. He soon turned his sights to film and television and moved to Los Angeles. A stuntman friend eventually convinced him to try his hand at a script, and a screenwriter was born. Music, nevertheless, remains his first love.

Blakeney and his family make their home on a vineyard in Northern California.
