Esumi Makiko (b. HIRANO Makiko on 18 December 1966 in Shimane, Japan) is a Japanese model and actress. Esumi began her career as a volleyball player but after being injured was discovered by a talent scout in hospital. Her screen debut was in Koreeda Hirokazu's Maborosi, though she is probably best known for her role as Tsuboi Chinatsu on the TV drama Shomuni.
She appeared on government advertisements about pension contributions.
