Richard Roundtree

Richard Roundtree was apprehensive about his first film comedy role. "I've done a lot of d ramatic films and some comedy episodic TV, but very limited film comedies. Its all very different and I'm learning as I go. Luckily, Rob Pritts knows what he's doing. He knows what he wants to see and he's able to communicate that to us. And we both went to SIU, so that's good," he laughs.

Roundtree initially received international fame starring as John Shaft, in a trio of movies: Shaft, Shaft in Africa and Shaft's Big Score. He also starred in the 90 minute television series, Shaft.

Roundtree went on to star in a number of films such as City Heat with Clint Eastwood, Diamonds with Robert Shaw, Man Friday with Peter O'Toole, and Inchon with Laurence Olivier, to name a few. More recently, he starred in the box office hit Seven opposite Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, the critically acclaimed Once Upon a Time ... When We Were Colored, the highly successful George of the Jungle, the remake of Shaft, and Steel with Shaquile O'Neal.

His television credits include, Having Our Say, Christmas in Connecticut, ROC, and 413 Hope Street, a role that earned him a NAACP nomination for an Image Award as Best Actor in a Drama Series.

Roundtree has recently completed work on the upcoming films Hawaiian Gardens, Joe and Max, and Boat Trip.
