nothing special (Fri Dec 3, 2004 8:02pm ET)report post
by Richard L. (R L) Walker
By way of introduction, I will mention that my father, R L. Walker Sr., perfected the Silver Screen (motion picture screen). From 1928 through 1976 the Walker American Corporation was almost the sole producer of large indoor movie screens in American, and indeed, the world. He and his brother, Robert , cooperated with many of the major studios in bringing better projection ( read that as more luminance) to the local theatre. If you had a small theatre in your town, the chances were at least 90% that it had a Walker Silver Screen, or, a Walker Silver Sheet.

Having said all that, you probably guessed by now that I have more than a passing interest in the "Movies".

I believe that J.T. Walsh was the most under-appreciated actor of our time. I have seen all of his works and am always amazed at the flawless manner in which he brings each character to the screen. Although his roles sometimes approached central figure (Robin William's Top Sergeant in "Good Morning VietNam), it was a tragedy that he was never allowed to play what I would call a really classical starring role.

I had scratched out the plot of what I think would have been a box office runaway when I got word of his death. It would have starred him as an astronaut on the first mission to Mars. I never copyrighted it and shelved the project as I didn't want anyone else to play the part. Trust me, it would have been a winner and made him a household word if it could have been brought to life on the screen (Silver, of course!).
